Interdisciplinary PhD opportunity in Systems Chemistry (m/f/d) – Munich

We are soliciting PhD applications for the interdisciplinary Innovative Training Network (ITN) in the field of Systems Chemistry entitled “Chemical Reaction Networks: Signal amplification, spatiotemporal control, and materials”. CReaNet is an EU-sponsored Marie S. Curie network that will generously fund 15 PhD positions in France, Germany, Israel, UK, Sweden, and Switzerland, starting approximately in September 2019. The long-term scientific goal of CReaNet is to develop biocompatible Chemical Reaction Networks (CRNs) for signal amplification and novel (bio)materials.



  • Investigate and create biochemical assays for characterization of biomolecules
  • Conducting experiments in a team of biochemists and physicists
  • Research and application of new biophysical measurement methods

Your background

  • A relevant Masters degree in Physics, Biophysics, Biochemistry or Biology
  • Very good knowledge of optical measurement techniques such as fluorescence (e.g. FRET) and light scattering (e.g. SLS,DLS)
  • Experience in the development and application of biophysical measurement methods
  • Good knowledge in data analysis and statistics
  • Pleasure in experimental work
  • High level of creativity, independence and hands-on mentality
