Nanodiscs

Nanodiscs serve as a synthetic membrane system for the investigation of integral Membrane Proteins. Nanodiscs are flat membrane fragments of a defined size consisting of membrane scaffolding proteins (MSPs) and lipids. The amphipathic scaffolding proteins interact with the lipids, covering their hydrophobic cores and thereby solubilizing them.
